Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics
In the world of business, financial management is vital to the effective and ethical management of organisations, from start-ups to multinational corporations. Investment in our students is the key to embedding the skills and attributes needed to ensure success, and we provide a learning experience that has some of the highest National Student Survey ratings in the country and practice expertise with professional accreditation and membership.
We have been providing accounting, finance and economics programmes for over 75 years and with more than 25 teaching staff from both academia and practice we continue to offer programmes that provide students with more than a qualification, we help them to grow professionally and personally. Our research is ground-breaking and progressive.
You will learn in a stimulating and engaging environment where theory comes to life, with an emphasis on student participation in the classroom. We believe in interactive and exciting learning. We have developed important connections with representatives of the financial and economic world, who contribute to the development of new modules. We aim at providing students with important skills for their future career by engaging with industry practitioners.
Our partnerships with the major professional bodies ensure we are not only plugged into the best sources of industry regulation and knowledge, but can also offer our students exemptions on professional qualifications and will provide student memberships of both the ACCA and CIMA throughout 3 years of study.
A range of training in industry standard software, including use of our Financial Markets Lab, means we offer our students real experience and learning support they need to succeed in today’s modern business environment.
