Education Partnerships
Becoming a partner
We are always delighted to welcome new partners and support school improvement planning. There are many different opportunities for partnership working, ranging from working with our Initial Teacher Training courses through to involvement with school-based research. Our education team has expertise in a wide range of areas.
Initial Teacher Training
Partnership for Initial Teacher Training could involve:
- Becoming a Lead Partner. Lead partner(s) will have an operational or strategic role with responsibilities such as trainee recruitment, delivering training, involvement in curriculum design, supplying lead mentors, or running Intensive Training and Practice.
- Providing a teacher training placement. Placement schools will provide placements and general mentors.
Trainee Recruitment
Lead partners could have delegated responsibility to recruit trainees to a postgraduate Middlesex teacher training programmes. These include:
- Employment-based provision where trainees gain QTS and study for a PGCert Teaching. This would either be through a salaried school-led provision or the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship.
- Fee-funded training. Trainees would join any of the PGCE (QTS) programmes at Middlesex University.
Partnership Steering Group (PSG)

Mentor development
Our school partners provide experienced practitioners who work with us to mentor our training and Early Career Teachers in the school setting.
We aim to provide a tailored training programme for ITT mentors and have developed a framework for mentor development which includes regular training and updates. We have collaborated with other London providers of ITT to ensure that our mentor training curriculum has synergies with those of other London providers.
We provide a range of online mentor training events. Training also takes place in a central location or by request in the school setting.
CERS
The Centre for Education Research and Scholarship (CERS) acts as a hub for staff and students, with a focus on research and scholarship that is educational, multi-disciplinary and practice-based.
