Practice Based Learning Unit

The Practice Based Learning Unit has a well-established reputation in the provision of Quality and Enhancement of Practice Learning and Assessment in Nursing and Midwifery.

We work with the pre- and post-registration programme teams in ensuring the professional, statutory and regulatory body requirements are met. We have excellent working relationships with clinical partners, commissioners, curriculum, placement teams and students.

Pan London Practice Learning Group

  • The PLPLG develop, support, monitor and evaluate a standardised London wide approach to practice learning and assessment across London for a range of learners on pre-registration nursing programmes.

Strengthening Team-based Education in Practice

STEP involves practice and university colleagues from across North Central and East London region who are passionate about learning in practice for nursing and midwifery learners. Led by Middlesex University and funded by Health Education England, this project team have developed a range of resources to enhance the learner experience.

  • Our strategy includes a section dedicated entirely to practice based learning and how our students benefit from a hands-on education informed by cutting-edge research.

Support for nursing and midwifery students

The NMC provides practice education support for NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. They have a vital role in nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education.
