Biography
Dr Alessandra M. De Tommaso joined Middlesex University in 2021 as a Lecturer in Law. She holds a 5-year Law degree (Laurea Magistrale in Diritto) from the University of RomaTre, Italy, and a LLM in International Crime and Justice from the UNICRI – United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute jointly with the University of Turin, Italy. In 2022, she succefully completed her PhD at Middlesex University on Corporate Criminal Liability and International Criminal Law. She also has working experience as a Lecturer in Sports Law and Sports Business. She is a qualified lawyer and a member of the Italian Bar Association. As a lawyer, she has three-year working experience in civil, corporate, and commercial litigation.
Alessandra’s research interests are in corporate criminal liability, international criminal law, and business and human rights. Her current research focuses on the feasibility of holding corporations accountable for their involvement in international crimes and human rights abuses. Her research also considers the history of international criminal law with a focus on the legacy of Nuremberg on the current debate on the involvement of business actors in international crimes. Alessandra is also interested in researching international environmental law and posthuman theory.
