Research activities

Deborah’s key interests focus on couple relationships, attachment theory, parenthood, mental health and wellbeing, therapies and interventions, HE students, as well as qualitative research, particularly visual and creative qualitative methods and pluralism in qualitative research.


Current Teaching

Deborah is module leader on several modules, and mainly teaches developmental psychology, psychology in education and research methods. She co-developed and co-leads on an MSc qualitative research methods module, and has helped to expand the teaching provision of qualitative approaches in the Psychology department. 

Deborah also co-leads on the Psychology Placement and Work-Based Project modules related to psychological therapies and interventions, where students can gain work experience, linking theory and evidence to their practice.

Deborah also supervises undergraduate and MSc dissertations, as well as doctoral candidates.

Deborah is passionate about supporting students to achieve their potential and helping them to succeed.

Biography

Deborah Bailey-Rodriguez is a Senior Lecturer in Psychologyand Programme Leader of the MSc in Psychological Therapies and Interventions atMiddlesex University in London. 

Deborah has key interests in attachment theory, couplerelationships and qualitative research methods. She completed her PhD exploringthe transition to second-time parenthood in couple relationships, usingqualitative mixed methods at Middlesex University. Her doctoral research drew andbuilt upon her undergraduate qualitative exploration of the transition tosecond-time motherhood, where the second child has a disability.

Deborah graduated with a BSc Psychology with CounsellingSkills with a First Class, followed by a PG Cert in Professional Practice inResearch Methods and has also achieved a PG Cert in Teaching and SupportingLearning; also at Middlesex University.

Deborah is currently Editor-in-Chief of the BPS QualitativeMethods in Psychology Bulletin and is an Editorial Board member of The Qualitative Research journal. Shehas numerous publications.
