Biography
Dr Leandro Sepulveda is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Enterprise and Economic Development Research (CEEDR), Middlesex University Business School. He has nearly twenty years’ experience on research specialising in enterprise, entrepreneurship and social and economic development. His current research interests include enterprise and entrepreneurship among migrants and ethnic minorities; social enterprise support programmes; population diversity and economic development, and small business development and policy in developed and developing countries. His work in the UK and Europe has been commissioned by public agencies including the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (former BIS), the Office for Civil Society (OCS), research councils such as the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), non-profit organisations such as the School for Social Entrepreneurs and Innovation Exchange which provide ‘start-up’ and ‘scale-up’ support for entrepreneurs. Leandro worked in Latin America as an external consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC-UN) and Senior Researcher at the National University of General Sarmiento (UNGS - Institute of Industries) in Argentina, and is currently leading on a project funded by the European Commission (H2020-MSCA-RISE) comprising nine universities in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay) and ten across Europe (Finland, France, Italy, Spain, UK). Overall the research projects which Leandro has lead and/or been involved in are committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in research particularly in relation to sensitive variables such as gender, nationality, age, ethnicity, religion and culture as well as socio-economic background. Leandro is a native Spanish speaker and he also has a good working knowledge of Portuguese.
