Biography
Dr Yang (PhD, MSc, PGDip, BEng, PGCertHE, SFHEA, CEng, MCIBSE) started her career as a Structural Engineer and then pursued an MSc in Renewable Energy and Architecture, PhD research in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and field testing on natural ventilation in buildings. Further research focused on human-environment thermal interaction in naturally ventilation buildings, additive manufacturing technologies from building design to full-scale building components fabrication in freeform construction, and rapid prototyping for advanced modelling of building ventilation and IAQ.
Tong initiated and contributed as the Engineering Lead in the MDX Living Pavilion project that was recognized as the runner-up for Teaching Excellence at Guardian University Awards 2020.
Being a Chartered Engineer and committee member for the CIBSE Intelligent Buildings Group, Tong regularly contributes to effective communication between academics and practicing professionals, bridges the gaps between technical rigour and creative exploration, research and real-world applications - enabling transdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural and community connections for sustainable transformation of natural and built environments.
