Biography

Emilie completed her MSc in Neuroscience in France in 2012 and worked as an optometrist before coming back to the UK to train as a midwife. She previously worked as an Independent Midwife across London and Greater London and as a part-time lecturer in another London university. She is now a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education and SFHEA.

As an autistic healthcare professional and Midwifery lecturer, Emilie is a strong advocate for neurodivergent students at Middlesex University. Having encountered numerous barriers as a neurodivergent learner and professional, she aspires to being a role model for students. By ensuring that each student’s learning needs are understood, and their strengths harnessed, Emilie’s innovative work is a paradigm of how the University leads in equality, diversity, and inclusion, using creativity to make a transformative impact on the experience of our diverse student body. In engaging with students guided by our principles of openness and transparency, Emilie believes that all learners potential should be explored to succeed academically and professionally.

With the expansion of blended learning, Emilie’s objective has been to continuously create accessible and innovative teaching materials that inspire and engage students. She has combined her love of technology and midwifery to develop innovative tools to improve student engagement.
