Biography

Pedro de Senna (he/him) is a theatre practitioner andacademic. Pedro was born in Rio de Janeiro, where he started performing in 1993,and he is a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Theatre Theory and Practice atMiddlesex University. His current research focuses on the relationships betweenfutures studies and performance studies; between theatre education and society;and between performance and right-wing politics. He has also published ontheatre translation and adaptation, directing and dramaturgy, and disabilityaesthetics. In his practice, Pedro has extensive experience as a director, workshopfacilitator, performer and dramaturg. As an actor, Pedro has worked on stage, screenand audio – both in the UK and internationally. He is an associate directorwith SignDance Collective, a disabled-led dance-theatre company using signlanguages as a basis for their choreographic practice; and his play Oriente Plus/Power Cut, written for thecompany, received an international tour with over 70 performances across 6different countries.
