Research activities

Cherie’s research interests include:

Social work with parents who have had children removed from their care, addictions across the life course, trauma-informed approaches to social work practice (in adult, and children and family settings), pedagogy and service user and carers - learning from the lived experience, vicarious trauma in social work practice.


Current Teaching

Cherie’s main teaching interests include mental health and addictions, trauma-informed practices, co-production, child and family social work, social work theory, readiness for practice and research methods.

BA (Hons) Social Sciences, PGDip Social Work, PG Cert Personality Disorder, MSc Addiction Studies, PG Cert HE, SFHEA

Cherie has been a lecturerin Social Work (Practice) at Middlesex University for five years. Prior tothis she taught with the NSW Institute of Psychiatry in Australia. She hasmore than 20 years practice experience in adult mental health and addictions,and child and family social work. She is a member of an independent fosteringpanel and continues to undertake independent social work assessments.
