It is also for you to reflect and consider your own experience, about your adherence to treatment. The training will be of interest to anyone with a special interest in medication management, students on any health programmes, community-based practitioners, mental health professionals working in inpatient and community setting with service users.
Course content
Effective use of medicines is an important part of self-management of chronic conditions. However, many people do not take their medicines. It is estimated that only half of people with chronic conditions adhere to their long-term medications and only a third follow general lifestyle recommendation.
By the end of the session, participants should be able to:
- Describe what the concordance approach entails and what adherence to treatment can be affected by in general
- Identify evidenced based strategies and use self-management tools to prevent relapse and promote recovery in users of mental health services
- Describe and understand your role in promoting concordance in your area of work to improve patient outcomes
