Delivered by Great Ormond Street Hospital Learning Academy (GLA), this 30-credit module follows on from PICU 1 (PCH3804/PCH4804) and PICU 2 (PCH3802/PCH4802), therefore practitioners will utilise the skills and knowledge gained to delve further into the clinical complexities of nursing interventions in paediatric intensive care (PIC). This deepened knowledge will refine their clinical expertise and encourage them to critically reflect upon their practice and that of others. This final Qualified in Specialty module will give opportunities to practitioners to advance their careers within PIC, opening doors to specialised roles, research opportunities and influential contributions to paediatric intensive care practices, therefore improving standards of care for children in PIC.
On successful completion of the following three PICU modules, learners will have achieved a Qualification in Specialty in Paediatric Intensive Care:
- Foundations of Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing (PICU 1), PCH3804/PCH4804
- Care of the Child with Cardiac and Respiratory Compromise (PICU 2), PCH3802/PCH4802
- Nursing Interventions for the Child in Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU 3), PCH3805/PCH4805
This module can be taken as standalone Continuing Professional Development (CPD), or as part of a Master’s of Science (MSc), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) or Graduate Certificate (GradCert) in Paediatrics & Child Healthcare Practice. See our MSc Paediatrics & Child Healthcare Practice page for more information about these programmes. Following completion of PICU 1, PICU 2 and PICU 3, practitioners will have gained enough credits to achieve a PGCert in Paediatrics & Child Healthcare Practice (Critical Care). If you wish to discuss this, please contact [email protected].
