Course Overview
If you have substantial work experience, specialist expertise or undertaken professional development courses, you may be able to get the learning from this experience recognised and claim university credit. This is through a process called Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL).
This unique module will support you to gain recognition and university credit for prior experiential learning (RPL). which can then be used towards a range of graduate / postgraduate University awards.
Course content
You will review and reflect on your learning experiences; past and present, and your ongoing professional development. You will be supported to present a reflective portfolio to ‘claim’ academic credit for your areas of learning.
Once awarded, credit can be used towards a range of graduate / postgraduate University awards.
Models of reflection will be introduced to facilitate a critical and evaluative approach to the identification of experiential, work based and formal learning. Learning activities will critically reflect upon your learning from your workplace and other formal and informal learning experiences.
Learning and teaching
The Learning and teaching strategy is ‘blended learning’. It is learner-centred and is supported by tutor led workshops which are currently online and 1:1 support. There are structured learning resources and activities supported through the online module learning site.
Assessment
You will produce a portfolio that identifies and evidences each area of learning, supported by a reflective commentary which discusses the areas of learning claimed, within the context of the learners professional practice.
The size of the portfolio will depend on the amount of credit being claimed.
