Over the course of this Business Management and Marketing degree you’ll learn by doing – the vast majority of our modules are practical, and you’ll be assessed based on real life case studies and simulations.

During the marketing section, you’ll take on a range of digital marketing courses. You also have the opportunity to work on a marketing consultancy project where an external client will provide a project brief and you’ll work in a team to provide practical, actionable solutions. You will develop essential skills and knowledge in business management and learn essential business issues. You will develop key business skills, knowledge and experience in order to excel in a management career. Companies and organisations require graduates who have expert business knowledge, who can also demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, with the professional acumen to deal with challenges in a fast-paced business environment. This module provides you with an overview of marketing and digital strategy from a theoretical and practical perspective. The practice of digital marketing in today's marketing landscape will be outlined in addition to how digital marketing plays a vital integrative role in an organisation’s marketing strategy. However, the importance of more traditional channels will also be highlighted, and how these combine in an overall marketing strategy. You will gain practical digital marketing skills such as website design and creation and SEO analysis.

This module develops your knowledge of operations and supply chain management within a variety of organisations. It examines  aspects of operations and supply chain management relevant to the design, planning, control and improvement of business operations. You'll learn to evaluate, select and apply relevant operations management concepts, tools and techniques to solve problems, make informed decisions and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes.

Building upon your first work experience module, you will undertake approved work experiences and personal and professional development activities, for a minimum of 18 weeks full time employment. This gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of work and develop effective strategies to understand work and organisational life. The module will help you to demonstrate your commercial awareness.

The module provides you with a holistic view of branding concepts and theoretical frameworks within the context of an evolving digital and analogue communication landscape. We recognise that consumer brands play an important role in creating and influencing consumer expectations and are more than just labels on the products and services we consume.

Brands need to reflect and adapt to the changing values and ethical considerations that consumers are seeing as increasingly important in a world being defined by new environmental, social and cultural norms. In order to remain relevant, brands need to create greater emotional links with consumers. Teaching and learning

Teaching

You’ll learn through key concept videos and other curated online material via the My Learning facility and on-campus large group sessions, seminars, workshops and computer lab-based sessions. You'll utilise interactive practice-based activities to stimulate exchange of ideas and development of critical thinking skills. Activities such as Q&A sessions, polls, quizzes, games, simulations, use of software, role plays, guest speakers and case studies are used to develop in-depth and practice-based knowledge and understanding. And there will be guided reading of textbooks, academic journals, case studies and company and industry documents. Most teaching groups have about 35 students. Your work will be divided into credits of approximately 10 hours of study time and you will need to complete 120 credits per year, by taking modules of typically 30 credits.

You will be studying at our north London campus in Hendon.

During your first year, your weekly timetable will typically consist of:

  • 4 to 5 hours of large group sessions 
  • 6 hours of seminars/labs/workshops 
  • Access to weekly one-to-one meetings with your module tutors as required 
  • Access to one-to-one meetings with your academic advisor 
  • Access to support from student learning assistants.

Outside of teaching hours, you’ll learn independently through self-study which will involve reading articles and books, working on projects, undertaking research, and preparing for assessments including coursework, presentations and exams.

Your knowledge, understanding and skills will be assessed by authentic, innovative and practice-based assessments which will benchmark your learning and develop the practical abilities needed to become an effective business manager 

You will do this by working on the following: 

  • Individual and group reports, projects and presentations, simulations, posters, portfolios and reflective learning logs.  
  • Engagement with digital technologies to collect, process, analyse and visualise data, and communicate findings effectively through reports, presentations, posters and portfolios.  
  • Developing leadership, teamwork and collaborative working skills which will be assessed through group reports and presentations.
