Applying to Middlesex is a quick and easy process, and we’re here to help you each step of the way. How you apply will depend on your level of study.

When I graduate, I'm going to work as a software engineer in London, and Middlesex has helped me apply for jobs and helped me with my CVs. In general, Middlesex has helped me gain knowledge and skills that will help me fit into the workforce outside of my studies.

The university supports me as an international student primarily by creating a very diverse environment. So when you walk around campus and you hear people speaking different languages, not necessarily English, from different parts of the world,

it helps to be reminded that you're not the only one who's left your country to try this new experience. Meeting people from different backgrounds, I think that has been the greatest thing about London; I get all that exposure.

And in my final year, I get to work part-time, and the school has provided me with opportunities to volunteer.

Currently, I'm part of the African Caribbean society. Um, we do have a group chat on WhatsApp, and we've also had, like, uh, we get together at parties as well.

Being an international student moving to a new country by myself, it's scary, but I currently live in Plaxtol. I quickly made friends. I got to meet a student who was doing my course, psychology, and she was my classmate.

And the campus is in one place; everything is situated in the same area. Facilities as well, like the StoneX Stadium. I love having my classes next to the stadium. It's fun looking out to see the green grass and everything, so it really helps.

Also, if you want to get to know London, it's quite easy. Uh, you can always take the tube or the bus anywhere in London. As an international fan, for example, I always wanted to go to the Emirates Stadium. At the time that I was applying to Middlesex, living mostly in Central and East Africa, I used the regional office in Nairobi. They were really helpful in answering my questions and guiding me through the process.

I sat down with my lecturer, and she said to me, "Well, Primrose, why don't you consider the wellbeing services?" And it changed my life. It was great. So I think it was just a wonderful experience knowing that the school not only cares for my grades but they also really care about my wellbeing. They care about that, and they want to make sure that you're doing well.

Important information for international students

If you have any questions about entry requirements and the suitability of your qualifications, please contact your regional team.

As part of the current Student route (formerly tier 4) visa regime, prospective students face robust questions about their destination, limits on their ability to work and tighter rules on their English-language capability. Due to these constraints we are currently not accepting applicants from Nigeria to our Pre-Sessional and International Foundation courses until further notice.

For entry to most undergraduate courses, you must have completed the WAEC plus a recognised university foundation year. You will need to provide originals of your WAEC and foundation results. If you have only completed WAEC you may be considered for our one-year International Foundation Programme.

Students who successfully complete the one-year International Foundation at Middlesex will automatically progress onto a Middlesex degree.

Undergraduate - Year 2 & 3

If you have achieved a Foundation Degree, CertHE, DipHE, HNC, HND or a number of modules of an undergraduate degree course at another university, you may be able to enter directly into the second or third year of one of our undergraduate degree courses as a transfer student. We recognise qualifications from a range of awarding bodies including Aptech, ABE and Edexcel.

Postgraduate

For most postgraduate courses, you must have completed a good Bachelor degree, equivalent to a British second class honours degree from a recognised university.

Our MBA courses require at least two years of post-graduation work experience at management level, and in some cases a GMAT score of over 550 will also be required.

You must also meet our standard English Language Requirements.

We understand that knowing how you’ll fund your studies as an international student is something you’ll want to tick off your list as soon as possible. We’ve got plenty of support on budgeting to help you get the most out of your money and your university experience.

Other scholarships

You can also apply for the British Government's Chevening Scholarships, and a variety of private agencies and charities for scholarships, bursaries and grants to study in the UK. For more information visit the British Council website or the UK Council for International Student Affairs website.

Scholarships such as Regional Merit Award (£1,000), Academic Achievement Award (£3,000 for undergraduate students and £2,000 for Postgraduate students and final year top-up undergrads), Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Federal Capital Territory Scholarship board, Nigerian Universities Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Nigeria LNG, Chevening Scholarships and Commonwealth Scholarship - contact your regional office.

The following requirements must be met in order for your visa application to be successful:

Middlesex requirements

  • Attend our visa preparation webinar hosted by our International Student Advice team
  • Attend and successfully pass a screening interview with your Regional Office Attend and successfully pass a visa preparation interview with the International Student Advice team
  • Submit finance documents to Middlesex
  • Pay your tuition fee deposit

Once you have completed the above items successfully, a CAS will be issued.

UKVI Requirements

  • Submit an online application through the UKVI website. You will need to submit your valid CAS, payment of the visa fee and immigration health surcharge
  • Upload the relevant supporting documents (passport, academic documents, evidence of meeting or being exempt from English language requirements, evidence of meeting financial requirements, ATAS certificate if required, TB test certificate if required)
  • Biometric data collected at the visa application centre

Successful applicants will receive an Entry Clearance vignette in their passport and will be able to collect their Biometric Residence permit in the UK.
