MDX scores best ever NSS results
11 July 2024
Middlesex ranked 1st in London and 5th in the UK for acting on feedback and listening to students
Middlesex University has built on its National Student Survey (NSS) 2023 results and scored the best ever results.
Overall MDX ranked 10th out of 115 UK universities for how positively undergraduate students feel about studying at the University and also exceeded the Office for Student (OfS) benchmark in all of the seven NSS themes. This ranking excludes small and specialist providers with fewer than 1000 students taking part in the NSS.
The results demonstrate that MDX students have an excellent undergraduate experience at the University and the positive feedback is evidence of the hard work of academics, staff and Middlesex University Students’ Union (MDXSU).
MDX received its highest NSS response rate of 82% which was well above the 2024 sector average of 72% and a big increase compared to 2023 (79%) and 2022 (72%).
Key results for MDX include:
- 5th in the UK for listening to student voice
- 1st in London for acting on student feedback
- 1st in London for library resources and learning resources
- 4th in London for helping students develop skills for the future
Commenting on the results, MDX Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shân Wareing said:
“These are very strong results that build on those of our recent excellent Postgraduate Research Experience survey. Middlesex has scored above sector average in so many areas in NSS 2024. The results are a testament to how committed Middlesex staff and Students’ Union are in engaging with students to improve their experience. Our 82% response rate is also well above the sector average giving us an excellent picture of our students’ views.
“I’m particularly pleased that we’ve scored highly on assessment and feedback and on student voice demonstrating ability to listen and respond to student needs effectively. It’s also extremely positive to see the University exceeding sector average in library and learning resources and developing the skills students need for the future.”
