Live at home while studying

Enjoy the best of both worlds.

Enjoy the best of both worlds

You can save money, stay close to friends and relatives, look after your children or other family members, and still have an amazing Middlesex experience.

Did you know that up to a third of students may choose to live at home while studying at university? This is according to new research by University College London which shows that rising living costs and family needs are affecting school leavers.

If you choose to live at home, we'll fully support you and help you get the most out of uni life. Our campus is a great place to study, meet new people, hang out, eat, play sports and join in all the social stuff - clubs, societies, gigs, balls and more.

There’s lots to explore locally in Hendon and central London is just a 20-minute train ride away.

"I live at home. You save a lot of money and the location is so perfect, it’s never been an issue for me. Everything has been a plus, plus, plus for me." Ireena, LLB Law

"Home study is easy for me as the library is largely accessible digitally. Middlesex also offer support via Skype and email that has been invaluable to me during my placements." Bronwyn, BSc Nursing (Mental Health)

"My university’s location is just near from my home which is wonderful. I can ride bus for 20 minutes and be there on time. Students can also access trains and buses and there are parking areas inside the uni also." Reycelie Angel, BSc Biomedical Science BSc (Hons)

Our student community

Get involved in our student community

There's a welcoming student community on our north London campus. By spending time in our social spaces, you'll meet new people who commute like you as well as students who live close to uni.

Clubs and societies How much time will I spend on campus?

How much time will I spend on campus?

This totally depends on which course you choose, as contact hours (the hours you actually spend in lectures, seminars, labs etc), vary greatly between courses. When you’re not in classes, you’ll spend the rest of the time doing independent study, either using our library, online resources or at home. Depending on your course, you will have some flexibility as to when you have to be on campus and when you can stay at home to study.

Travel times to campus

Our campus is mainly on one site in Hendon, north London, so you'll get to know everywhere quite quickly. And we have excellent public transport links to the rest of London, the UK and beyond.

We're a short walk from Hendon Central Underground Station in Zone 3, the railway station and 24-hour buses. There are direct links to Luton, St Albans, southwest and northwest London.

Commuting to Middlesex University is easy: we're close to surrounding areas of London such as Colindale, Cricklewood, Willesden, Harrow and Finchley and our campus is easily reachable from other parts of London. You can find the directions to Middlesex campus here.
