Care Leavers Estranged Students
Get the support you need
We're here to support you throughout your university journey, from your first application to graduation and beyond. Remember to tick the relevant box on your UCAS form so we can support you from the start.
Do I qualify as an estranged student?
To be classed as an estranged student, you'll have to provide evidence to demonstrate the lack of contact. This can take the form of a letter from a doctor, teacher or other professional who knows about your situation.
The evidence will be assessed by Student Finance England and you will qualify if you're under 25 and have had no contact with your parents for a least a year before you start your course, and/or you can show that you will permanently have no contact with your parents.
