The Sheppard Library
- Over 1,000 study areas with rooms for group study and over 600 computer spaces
- 350,000 books and e-books and more than 24,000 online journals
- Specialist facilities, including the Business School's Financial Markets Suite and our Teaching Resources Room.
The Sheppard Library is open 24 hours during term time, but can vary at other times.

Get a free 24-hour laptop loan with full desktop software, free printing and Wi-Fi to use on or off campus, even over the weekend.

Connecting to Wi-Fi
The University is equipped with several Wi-Fi access points that allow you to connect to the internet at different locations on campus. This includes all buildings and cafes.
The University’s Wi-Fi service is free and easy to use – once you have set up a device it should automatically connect each time you are in range of a Wi-Fi access point.
There are two Wi-Fi services available to use:
- MDXOPEN
- Eduroam
MDXOPEN
This service is free and open to anyone on Campus who requires internet connectivity.

What is Eduroam?
Eduroam is a free, global Wi-Fi service for students and University staff. Eduroam can be used to access the internet at many other universities in the UK and around the world. Visitors from other universities can also connect to it at Middlesex University.
The use of eduroam is subject to the Middlesex University Computer Use Policy for Students and Alumni and the eduroam (UK) Policy.
To connect to Eduroam, you’ll need:
- Your University email address
- Your University password

VPN (Virtual Private Network) Guides
What is VPN?
Referred to as Cisco Secure Client, when installed onto your own personal machine, you will be able to securely access the University’s resources from home or an alternative venue exactly as if you were studying on campus.

Hendon Public Library is minutes away from our campus, with a fully searchable catalogue including excellent e-resources.
University and college libraries
We're part of the M25 Consortium of Higher Education Libraries that links over 125 college and university libraries in London.
The SCONUL scheme gives you access, and some borrowing rights, for over 170 universities, colleges and special libraries – many in the London area.
