Introducing our new Learning Framework

Overview

We’re introducing a new teaching and learning approach for Middlesex called the Learning Framework. It makes sure that the structure of our modules, programmes and academic year are expertly designed to support your learning and success. The Learning Framework is focused on giving you the best possible education and student experience, and is based on feedback from our current students.

Here is what the new Learning Framework means for you:

  • A timetable that works alongside your other responsibilities with three days of in-person teaching with academics for most courses, and other activities delivered through interactive online activities
  • Curriculum that is designed with industry to build knowledge, skills and experience that employers want and need from graduates, so that you stand out in your chosen field
  • Modules that are optimised for in-depth learning and a manageable workload, with most students studying just two modules at a time and four each academic year
  • Assessments that relate to real-world challenges that are spaced throughout your course for regular feedback on your progress – and fewer exams
  • Small group study in student clusters for more personal support for your learning and chances to meet more people on your course.

We’ve made these changes to our teaching and learning in collaboration with our current students, who shared their views in discussions with academics and other students. We’re very serious about student feedback at Middlesex and we’re proud to be in the top 10 universities in the country for responding to what our students tell us.
