The Creative Skills Academy for Higher Education

Our Creative Skills Academy for Higher Education connects and equips students and graduates who have traditionally been under-represented in the sector. We are helping them with opportunities for placements, work experience, employment and freelance work.

The demand for screen content has never been greater: this is creating thousands of jobs and a significant need for skills development, with 70% of the 24,000 businesses operating in London and the South East. The screen sector currently has an acute shortage of technical and general skills across all areas including production, post-production, animation, games, costume, hair and make-up as well as accounting, legal, set-building, electrics.

Vacancies exist at all levels from new entrant to management.

Support for getting into the screen sector

If you want to find out more about working in the screen sector, the Academy partners can provide information, careers advice and guidance and tailored employability workshops.

Whether you are thinking about starting your career in the screen sector and you are wondering what training and qualifications you need, you have just completed a university programme or are about to, you want to know how to set up as a freelancer or you are wondering whether the skills you acquired working in other disciplines such as business, finance, or legal, could be transferred, the Creative Skills Academy can help.

As part of the Academy, we have been working with London Higher, Film London’s Equal Access Network (EAN) and the Capital College Group (CCCG) to provide practical training which is directly linked with leading industry employers and vacancies.
