Your opportunity to positively impact lives: Teacher training at Middlesex video thumbnail

So I'm Tremaine Baker, senior lecturer in initial teacher education. When you're teaching, you're having an impact on a number of students' lives. You know, when you're teaching teachers, your impact is far wider.

That sense of sort of responsibility almost is deeply felt. Comparative education was my favourite because it broadens your mind and you can actually see that not all children around the world have the same opportunities and how much actually politics and all that affects that, so that was definitely my favourite.

The one thing that Middlesex offers is opportunities for students who wouldn't get opportunities elsewhere. I had a module called SEND where we had this massive group session discussing SEND matters.

It was such a rich experience, just debating about what the future holds in terms of SEND. There are really well -established partnerships across a range of schools and working with schools to make sure that they've got really strong mentors, that they're being really well supported on placements.

Everything we do is designed to make sure that when you leave us in the summer you are so well prepared to go off to teach and on top of that we run careers days, we have a lot of sort of partnership with the heads and school leaders coming in talking to students about your early career teaching role so they're really well prepared to apply for the jobs and then can go on and become amazing teachers.
