Plus we'll make sure that you have the skills to tell them why they should hire you. Employers that we work with include PwC, Sky, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon, Microsoft, KPMG, GSK, Civil Service, Harper Collins, and Enterprise Rent a Car, just to mention a few.

Opportunities to engage with our employer partners include:

  • Gradstock Festival - our biggest annual event, with a live careers fair, employer talks, panel discussions and workshops led by industry leaders, work opportunities and much more
  • CareerConnect - an annual one-day event offering students and graduates opportunities to engage with external organisations and university alumni to secure work-related activities
  • In-curriculum and beyond - we prioritise integrating employer engagement into the curriculum through initiatives that focus on guest talks, project-based experiences, experiential learning, and other activities.

Unitemps provides students with an ideal place to secure paid flexible work within the University. As it sits within our MDXworks Careers and Employability Service, we will be able to align these valuable work experience opportunities with our core competency skills development, offering a unique platform for students to truly ‘hit the ground running’ when they graduate.

Placements, Internships and Employer-led Projects

We can help you secure an internship or placement during your studies. The placement options that are available to you will depend on the course you study however, these can include year-long placements, short-term internships, intensive one-week roles and community placements run by our Students' Union.

We also established a continuously growing network of over 70 local and national SME industry collaborations, connecting Middlesex students directly with real clients, allowing you to apply and enhance your key skills in a tangible, real-world context. Moreover, we offer a diverse set of opportunities internally, where teams of students are frequently offered chances to collaborate with different departments, offering a well-rounded and immersive learning experience and preparing you for the dynamic challenges of the professional world.

Our MDXcelerator programme supports students and recent graduates in launching their business ideas. Since 2019, we've awarded over £90,000 in funding to 57 student entrepreneurs. The programme offers year-round support through events, pitch challenges, training, and seed funding opportunities.

Our service provides a range of resources and support to help students and graduates navigate their career paths, including career guidance, CV and Cover Letter reviews, interview preparation, job search strategies, networking opportunities, and access to part-time work, internships and placements. We also offer part-time roles and internships within the university via the MDX Unitemps platform.

Yes, we work closely with employers to facilitate internship and placement opportunities for students both internally and externally. We advertise available opportunities, provide guidance on application procedures, and offer support throughout the placement process. Current students can apply for the MDX Internship Scheme or the Summer Placement Programme, offering over 50 roles each year.

Yes, our advisers and offer individualised CV and Cover Letter reviews to help you tailor your application materials to specific job opportunities and showcase your skills and experiences effectively. Current students can book 1:1 appointments with a faculty-aligned adviser, visit our on-campus office, email us, or attend one of our workshops to obtain the support they need.

Yes, we organise networking events, career fairs, employer presentations, and industry panels throughout the year to connect students with employers and professionals in various fields. These include Gradstock festival in October and CareerConnect in May, which have cumulatively offered over 10,000 students the opportunity to engage with more than 500 employers since 2018.

We provide access to job boards, online databases, and other resources to assist with job searching. Additionally, we offer workshops and guidance on effective job search strategies, including networking and using social media for professional purposes.
