Education
Leading in global professional, creative and technical education since 1878.
Our career-focused education is transformative for our students. We engage them in experiential learning, with real world experience, and encourage them to think in a global and entrepreneurial way.
Our practical and skills-based approach equips students for their future careers and inspires them to achieve their personal ambitions.
Focus on skills
Our professional, creative and technical courses are built around skills-based learning and designed with industry and the professions. All courses offer students experience of working on real projects, with placements and networking opportunities with some of the biggest global names. Our partners include Google, ASOS, Disney, Deloitte, NHS Trusts and the Metropolitan Police. This experience prepares students to step confidently into the workplace, with 93% of our graduates in work or further activities after 15 months (HESA, 2022 and Graduate Outcomes Survey, 2020-21).
Campus and facilities
Our welcoming campus has world class facilities that put us ahead of other universities and many professional settings, like our Hollywood standard motion capture suite for animation and augmented reality teaching equipment for nursing and midwifery. We make the most of our location - just 15 minutes travel to Camden or 25 minutes to King's Cross - with opportunities for students to expand their career prospects and their social life.
Careers and entrepreneurship
We prepare our students for a global workplace through what they learn on - and off - their course. Our Graduate Competencies were created with hundreds of employers to help students to develop their entrepreneurial mindset and move between jobs, sectors, careers and countries. We offer lifetime career support, including our business startup support programme which has awarded over £55,000 in seed funding.
A global education
We have a community of 38,000 global students across our three campuses in London, Dubai and Mauritius. Each of our global campuses is distinctive with an international reputation for excellence. We received a 5-star rating in Dubai (KHDA Higher Education Classification 2022) and we were the first UK campus university in Mauritius. Our students benefit from this international experience as they go out into the global workplace.
Our shared vision of the future
Our curriculum reflects what matters to us and to our students. Academics teach on critical issues, like social justice, sustainability and mental wellbeing, and show students how they can act on global challenges for a brighter future. Like the students on our MSc Sustainability and Environmental Management course who monitor air quality on Hendon campus and work with the local council to improve air quality in our area.
An inclusive approach
We give ambitious students from any background the opportunity to succeed with innovative and inclusive learning and assessment. We make sure that our students' future success is not limited by their past social or financial situation. As a result, we are 11th out of UK universities for boosting students’ social mobility (IFS, Sutton Trust and DfE 2021).
Student experience designed by students
We ask our students what they need from university to do well and be happy. Our Students’ Union and student body work with us to shape the development of an outstanding student experience. Our Student Learning Assistants work with academics to support learning and build confidence in their peers, winning the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) by Advance HE in 2022.
